2011 was Events by Design’s year of unforgettable clients. It was a year of nothing but amazing, appreciative, kind couples who will remain in our hearts forever. Dan and Michelle were no exception. Planning their wedding was one of the most fun experiences of my career. We all became very close and to quote “Events by Design will be our event planners forever!” Good thing, because we love you too! When I took Dan and Michelle to Estancia for the first time, it was like love at first sight. In fact, I’m pretty sure they still go about once a week even though the wedding is over. Here is a look at Dan and Michelle’s very special fall wedding at Estancia Resort and Spa. Flowers courtesy of the amazing Tam Ashworth of Isari Flower Studio
As we enter 2012 and embark on our 10th year of weddings, I thought a great way to start off a successful year would be to hear from an EbD bride. Tess Gamboa (now Mrs. Tess Meyers!) is one of the most creative, intelligent, talented and descriptive bride’s I have ever worked with! Here is a look back at her wedding…from HER perspective.

I don’t know about you but I L-O-V-E the holiday season. I love pulling my sweaters and scarfs out of the top shelves of my closets. I love the holiday movies, baking, holiday parties and, of course, decorating! I think is really important to not feel bound to the typical red and green holiday color scheme. Here is a classic example…
Last week, I had the pleasure of working with David Hahn to install the holiday decor at the new Palomar San Diego. Kimpton Hotels has taken over, what was formerly known as Hotel Se, and has brought it back to life. The design has always been beautiful but with a brilliant group like Kimpton Hotels, the properties’ future is promising. The hotel has a very masculine design and color scheme…copper, silver, black, dark red…we knew we couldn’t put a traditional holiday design in such a modern/contemporary space. So we choose gold and copper as our main focus, with chocolate and cranberry as accent colors.
We created two large lobby pieces. We used various branches ( I especially love the moose branches…well they look like moose antlers!), some cranberry foliage and cranberry ball ornaments. The lobby has a big cranberry wall so we wanted to tie it into the design. Continue reading
Another amazing Events by Design couple…
Su and Homan were not only an incredible couple (the kind of couple that make a wedding planner love their job) but they planned a day rich in family and tradition. Su, who is of Korean decent, and Homan, who is Chinese, knew they wanted to incorporate both Korean and Chinese traditions into their Americanized wedding.
The day began in the morning with an American Wedding Ceremony. As the mothers helped Su into her gown, they were dressed in GORGEOUS traditional Korean dresses.
Su decided she wanted a “Mary Antoinette” inspired design at the Rancho Bernardo Inn for her American Ceremony and Lunch Reception.
The pop of the pink blooms against the turquoise gown is simply delicious! Continue reading
I had the pleasure of doing a shoot for Exquisite Wedding’s Fall 2011 issue at The Rancho Bernardo Inn. The title of this table top is “The Wedding Crasher” inspired by the crashing chandelier. Enjoy!
