A Few of My Favorite Things! Episode 2

Celebrity Wedding Planner - Jessica Gillon

Jessica Gillon-Wedding & Event Producer-Owner of Events by Design

So I decided it might be time for another addition of “A Few of My Favorite Things”. I have found that some of my greatest discoveries have come from word of mouth from a friend, family member of colleague. So, hopefully, you will take one or two (or more) from today’s bog post.

1. Pinterest!       Follow Me on Pinterest

Now, most of you are learning about Pinterest for the first time in this blog spot…but it is most definitely my new favorite things. In fact, this wedding planner has become quite addicted to it! I love the design ideas, the DIY project ideas (and I have to admit I am NOT the DIY type, but I have found some amazing things on there), hair and beauty ideas, amazing pictures of babies and puppies that will melt your heart and images of Bucket List Destinations.

Here is an example of one of my favorite did bits of info I found on Pinterest.

waves in hair

Waves in 15 minutes! Section hair into 5-10 big sections then braid each in a loose braid. Run a flatiron over each braid, let them cool down, spray hairspray and undo the braids.

2. Juicing

juicing

A few months ago, I not only wanted to work on my weight and toning up, but I was also having a real problem with my energy level. I was introduced to juicing by my friend Tovah. Everyday I juice lots of veggies and throw in a couple pieces of fruit and some ginger. It is amazing how I feel! Tovah used to be one of our Wedding Coordinators until she was was diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis in June 2007. She wasn’t going to let the disease take over her life, so she searched for a way to feel better without resorting to medication. Through her search, she found a new way of life, a new passion and now she helps others learn about the power of juicing and eating RAW. Her company is called Green Life and in March she is leading a 21 day cleanses. It is a really safe and healthy way to lose weight quickly but more importantly, it gives your body a “reboot”. For more information contact Tovah at tovahterranova@gmail.com. And if you want to watch a great documentary about the subject try Fat, Sick & Nearly Dead.

3. The Ebell

wedding ceremony ebell

I have recently been planning a wedding with a client at The Ebell of Los Angeles. It has quickly become one of my favorite venues. It is not only gorgeous but rich in history. It was established as a women’s club encouraging education and culture to women in 1894. It is an amazingly beautiful space. I just attended a tasting and it was unbelievable!

4. Tory Burch

I love, love, love these Tory Burch boots! The picture says it all!

5. Wine and Truffle Pairings

I love doing a wine and truffle pairing bar. Whether it’s a special event or a wedding, it’s such a fun and interesting (not to mention yummy) form of entertainment. It’s a great alternative to a traditional cake cutting.

6. The Annette Gold Chiavari Chair Sleeve by Wildflower Linens

chair sleeve

I love these chair sleeves by Wildflower Linen. I love them so much they inspired my most recent photo shoot design. I partnered with the amazing Annette Gomez (didn’t realize the chair sleeve and the floral designer shared the same name until after the shoot…I guess it was meant to be!). Look for it in the new issue of Exquisite Magazine coming out in the spring.

7. Lace Glove

I love these lace gloves that are starting to pop up. You can find them on Etsy. You can even throw these on at the reception to change it up a bit.

8. Flower Girls in Tutus

There is nothing cuter than a flower girl in a tutu. I’m convinced every flower girl should wear one. And the converse just makes it that much better. You can buy them online at places like Tutu Girl or you can make them.

Here is a really cute handmade tutu. You can find out how to make it on a blog called The Crazy Train to Homemade Sanity

9. Latisse

long eye lashes

This product is a miracle! It’s a solution that you put on your eyelid each night and it makes your lashes grow…a lot! It really works! I highly recommend it. It’s a great product.

10. Tacori Diamonds

In love with anything Tacori, especially this gorgeous ring. I want it!!! I also love the gorgeous navy blue packaging that all Tacori jewelry is wrapped in. Have you noticed most wonderful things come in small Blue packaging?

That’s it for this round of “My Favorite Things”.
